Stressors in a bottle: A microcosm study on phytoplankton assemblage response to extreme precipitation events under climate warming

چکیده

The climatic stressors that are affecting lake ecosystems, especially phytoplankton, projected to become more intense with continued climate change (e.g., heatwaves, precipitation events). Concerns over the combined effects multiple, coinciding can have on phytoplankton necessitates investigating impacts of different regional scenarios. A microcosm study was conducted assess responses a assemblage containing cyanobacterium (Anabaena flos-aquae), green alga (Chlorella vulgaris) and diatom (Synedra) northwestern European summer scenario. Eutrophic microcosms were exposed full-factorial design including press temperature treatment scenario (ambient or warm) pulse (no runoff simulation simulation). Warming scenarios had significant biomass, which supports our first hypothesis (H1: higher water temperatures under eutrophic conditions will support larger biomasses, cyanobacteria). By contrast, extreme event minimal short-lived assemblage. Overall, interaction between two antagonistic. In contrast second (H2: nutrient additions from promote productivity in microcosms), not amplified by temperature. Our results indicate effect community necessarily synergistic multiplicative. findings antagonistic interactions necessitate future studies assessing variations intensity duration stressors.

Climate Change Impact on Precipitation Extreme Events in Uncertainty Situation; Passing from Global Scale to Regional Scale

Global warming and then climate change are important topics studied by researchers throughout the world in the recent decades. In these studies, climatic parameters changes are investigated. Considering large-scaled output of AOGCMs and low precision in computational cells, uncertainty analysis is one of the principles in doing hydrological studies. For this reason, it is tried that investigati...

Phytoplankton response to climate warming modified by trophic state

We investigated the combined effect of reduced phosphorus supply and warmer winter and spring conditions on the diatom spring bloom of a shallow lake. Simulations with a simple dynamic model indicated that reduced ice cover and increasing water temperatures resulted in a more intense and earlier bloom independently of phosphorous concentrations. However, whereas the collapse of the bloom was ca...

Impacts of climate change on extreme precipitation events in arid (Bandar Abbas) and semi-arid (Shahrekord) stations in Iran

The aim of this paper is to project extreme precipitation events in an arid and a semiarid station. In order to project climate change based on general circulation models (GCMs), we have applied LARS-WG[1] downscaling tool. This stochastic weather generator down-scaled the climate of two synoptic stations using HADCM3 model and A2 emission scenario for 2040. We extracted extreme precipitation e...

a study on rate making and required reserves determination in reinsurance market: a simulation

reinsurance is widely recognized as an important instrument in the capital management of an insurance company as well as its risk management tool. this thesis is intended to determine premium rates for different types of reinsurance policies. also, given the fact that the reinsurance coverage of every company depends upon its reserves, so different types of reserves and the method of their calc...

Assessing the Response of Nematode Communities to Climate Change-Driven Warming: A Microcosm Experiment

Biodiversity has diminished over the past decades with climate change being among the main responsible factors. One consequence of climate change is the increase in sea surface temperature, which, together with long exposure periods in intertidal areas, may exceed the tolerance level of benthic organisms. Benthic communities may suffer structural changes due to the loss of species or functional...
